#1
I know everyone wants to talk about cheaters and bad boys until your blue in the face. But there has to be more out there than these foo's.

Anyone see Infinity War ? Is it as good as advertised ?

II may go see it this weekend in-between the NBA playoff's. ( go Warriors :))

Mr. O,

If you have watched all of the previous Avengers movies and standalone character films, you have to go watch it.

I went to a late screening here...ended up leaving the theater at about 23:30.

It was...beautiful. It had a lot in it ..but it was all packed perfectly.

The move theater was packed...but it was full of fans. They cheered and screamed and cried together. It was an awesome experience. I highly recommend the movie overall though. It's so much better than the reviews. Nothing does it justice but personal viewpoint. :D

If you're a die hard fan like me...you'll leave the move just as speechless as I did.

PS. Stay till the end of the credits. ;)

Hi O.
Wifey and I went last week, and I am still reeling from it. It might just as aptly named Avengers Overdose, but either way, it is an awesome movie. It's funny where it needs to be, exciting almost everywhere else, and often the sweet combination of both.

Eat a nice lunch or dinner before you go. It's a long one, and you absolutely do not want to get up for popcorn.

I went with my son on Thursday. We went to a local theater that had a smaller screen but food and beer. Ask IceSkater said, speechless is a good way to put it. I'm also still reeling from it trying to make sense of it all.

Did you go see it today?

The score though...was epic...especially certain *cough* scenes. :X. I have it on Spotify it's just...beautifully made...

I'm so happy we can discuss this :D

I didn't go :( , it was to busy at the theaters near me. Unless I wanted to sit in the first row.
Its in the Que for this week after work. I got to go see it before someone at works ruins it for me. They keep talking about it and take off...

Thanks for all the feedback, I'm really stoked now.

Wow, what a movie.

Was the lost heroes funneled to some location tbd and maybe for another movie? Or did we really see the end to some relatively new Marvel characters ?

Great CGI and writing. I used to support the move special effects and animation community in LA. in the early 2000's. This was a big leap in CGI and video effects combined. The big battle in the jungle was superb and stunning. Like seeing a StarCraft battle run its course in 4K. It probably had the highest polygon and shader effects count in movie history.

Wow, what a movie.

Yeah, pretty much a normal reaction. I spent some time trying to process the ending, and my wife and I have bounced possible theories and scenarios off each other. She thinks there is some alternate reality, perhaps related to the soul stone, and she has researched Captain Marvel to try to guess how Marvel moves into phase three.
My theory tends to fixate on how Marvel can transition into creating a character to be played by Salma Hayek. Wifey fails to understand my genius.

Tense times in the Canada household. Thanks Marvel.

Hmmm...

CC...what do you mean with Miss Hayek as a character in the MCU? I'd love to her in the MCU...and there are so many possibilities.

Brie Larson as Captain Marvel will be awesome though. :D

I'd take a hazard a guess that it is indeed got to do something with alternate reality. I mean, Dr. Strange has definately got a finger in the pie knowing all of those versions where they had lost and the one they could win. :D :D

I'll add a spoilers note...cause I think we are going to have some fun with this topic.

Glad that you enjoyed it Mr. O. :D

Fine question. A natural inclination might be to cast her in a role such as Firebird, but I'm not sure even I could take that character seriously. Might be jumping the shark with that one.

Perhaps Jocasta would be interesting, maybe have Tony Stark create a new, better version of Ultron in female form now that Vision appears to be done.

However, I think a female version of Henry Gyrich, a cold, calculating government agent who constrains the Avengers....

and who bans Doen. :D

Hi guys

Is Infinity Wars a stand alone movie in that can I watch and understand it without having seen any of the other movies?

#14
I think you can. There are parts that tie in with the other movies but they are brief . I think that's where this movie is successful, its helps to see the other movies, but you don't have to. If you look at the big picture as there is one Main villain and all of the Marvel hero's need to help defeat him. You can watch this without feeling left out.

Now if you want to know all the associations and nuances then you need to see some of the other Avenger movies.

I agree with Orange. If you haven't seen the other movies, then you do not go into it with any preconceptions or expectations. At that point, it's just an action movie, albeit a turbo-charged action movie lacking Salma Hayek.
There is a generous amount of exposition in the other movies that binds all of them, and this would enhance your understanding of how the characters interact, but you don't have to know all of that to enjoy it.

Think of this. If you watch a movie in the Star Wars series, you can enjoy it without knowing all the background.

I would recommend watching the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It explains the whole Infinity Stone business.

I shall ponder this for a while...

You definitely can Vmax. ;)

Although as CC has said, it would be nice to know a little more about what the main thing is going on with Infinity War, so you can try watch Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 1 or you can also watch Thor: The Dark World, both movies have a bit of back story on the Infinity Gems and showcase possibly the most dangerous.

Let us know what you think if you watch it! :D

I keep seeing this mention of Selma Hayek , I'm wondering if CC is dreaming here and its bleeding into live realm or did I simply miss that she was in the movie ( and I " concur" that is a good thing. ) Since the movie Desperado, and the Quentin T movie " Dusk til Dawn" she can be in any movie I watch with good or bad writing. that slipped...

Haha, she wasn't in the movie, don't worry you're not crazy. ;)

We should maybe start a petition to get her into a MCU movie!! :D

Desperado...oh yeah...good movie, plenty of Salma Hayek blended with just enough supplemental action to sustain the lapses when she was not on screen. Since then, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Fools Rush In, Dogma, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, etc. She even made Grown Ups 2 almost worth watching.

Almost.

Not much of a leap to the MCU. She worked with Deadpool and Nick Fury in The Hitman's Bodyguard.
